To dare to disturb the universe with an original, strong, beautiful, smart, funny, and fun beauty and health site.

Daring because it’s created and written by An Actual Journalist with world-class medical, beauty, and journalist advisors.

Universal because we’re connecting real beauty and health information with real women and girls who care about those things as much as we do.

As for our name, More Lovely. It was inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18:

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely…

In our context, this means you were born lovely. So you’re already lovely. And you can be more with the right guidance, experts, and products.

Let us go then, you and I.

The Fab Five Week 3

The Fab Five Week 3

By Gigi Anders

We’re all over the place this week. In a righteous way.

1.)    & Other Stories Lemon Lip Balm ($11) will renew your faith in humanity. Is that asking too much of a lip balm? Well, after the political week we’ve all had, we’ll happily settle for this shea butter-beeswax-lemon peel oil wonder to restore our sense of goodness in the world, not to mention on our lips.

2.)    Feeling inflamed and irritated over politics? Or maybe feeling kind of inflamed and irritated generally? Here comes June Jacobs Rapid Repair Healing Cream ($30 - $80) to the rescue. This creamy but not greasy face and body treatment absorbs justlikethat and leaves upset skin calmed, hydrated, and baby soft for 24 hours. It’s packed with all the good stuff: shea butter, botanical extracts, and barrier ingredients to lock in moisture for the duration.

3.)    Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Hydra-Gelée Nourishing Hair Perfector ($28) may have one of the the longest names in the history of beauty products. But the content is so fabulous, you won’t mind. Light as water and super hydrating, this is perfect (PER-fect) for any hair type and really does, as it’s called, perfect (per-FECT). Is it the caviar extract? The sunflower seed oil? The magic of love? No idea. But you and your tresses will thank moi. Your credit card, maybe less.

4.)    Oh, Sarah Jessica Parker. What are we to say about you? One thing I can say from personal experience is that your new fragrance, STASH SJP ($50 - $85), keeps disappearing from the vanity whenever the boyfriend’s over. It’s because this gender-neutral perfume appeals to all humans’ senses: Grapefruit zest, black pepper, sage, cedarwood atlas, patchouli, ginger lily, pistachio, olibanum, massoia wood, vetiver, and musk all combine to create something, well, lovely. Yet masculine. Yet not too.

5. You know, I’ve been pleading with you to embrace self-tanners. And I’m gonna keep pleading with you because it’s not cold enough yet to stop showing bare legs. If you’re more into Friends With Benefits than Commitment, you want Vita Liberata Luxury Tan Body Blur Instant HD Skin Finish 24HR Wear ($45). With an even longer name than than our Number Three, think of this as a universally tinted face and body primer that “blurs” imperfections by masking them and reflecting light. And then you wash it off. Which would be sad. But not as sad as pasty white legs.
